Brandon Kiick, a lifelong weightlifter and gym security director, experienced a decline in his quality of life due to arthritis and old injuries that made movement increasingly painful. The physical activities that once defined his daily routine became difficult, and he faced the possibility of losing the active lifestyle he valued.
Seeking a long-term solution rather than temporary relief, Kiick turned to AdventHealth Porter Hospital. He worked with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Joseph Assini, who is recognized for providing personalized care. During their initial meeting, Dr. Assini listened to Kiick’s goals of returning to weightlifting and maintaining an active lifestyle. Together, they decided on a cementless total knee replacement—a procedure aimed at supporting both strength and recovery tailored to Kiick’s needs.
After surgery, Kiick was able to return home the same day. His recovery was supported by AdventHealth’s digital platform, which enabled him to communicate directly with his care team whenever questions arose. This immediate support contributed positively to his healing process.
Kiick reported that within six months of surgery—much sooner than he expected—he resumed his daily routines without pain or hesitation. “Sometimes I even forget I’ve had knee surgery,” he said.
Now back to lifting weights and staying active, Kiick credits the procedure not only with repairing his knee but also restoring opportunities in his life. He described this outcome as central to true healing: “care that helps you get back to the moments, passions and routines that make you feel whole.”
