UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook has announced the construction of two new catheterization laboratories to expand access to specialized cardiovascular and cancer care. The 15,000-square-foot addition is expected to be completed by September 2026, with patient services beginning in early 2027.

Kenneth Rose, president and CEO of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook, stated, “This expansion reflects our commitment to providing timely, high-quality cardiac care to the Bolingbrook community. The new laboratories will significantly enhance our ability to respond to acute cardiac events and deliver life-saving interventions.”

A groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 7 with participation from hospital leaders, local officials, and community members. Speakers included Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta; Dr. Arnon Rubin, incoming president of the hospital’s medical staff; and Gordon Wesley, Chief Strategy and Clinical Integration Officer for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth.

The labs are intended to improve response times for emergencies such as ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and provide expanded interventional radiology procedures like image-guided biopsies and minimally invasive cancer treatments.

The project involves collaboration with Bulley & Andrews and includes support from municipal authorities and state representatives who were acknowledged at the event.

According to Wesley: “By integrating advanced technology and thoughtful design into a program that is close to home, we are strengthening our ability to meet the evolving needs of a growing community. These new labs will not only enhance clinical capabilities but also reinforce our commitment to access, collaboration and excellence.”

AdventHealth Orlando was established in 1908 in Orlando, Florida. Its current president is Terry Shaw. The hospital features a pediatric ward and serves as a training facility.
