Richard Phillips, MD, MBA, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and La Grange. He will begin his new position on October 27.
Dr. Phillips brings more than two decades of experience in healthcare leadership and emergency medicine. Before this appointment, he was Chief Medical Officer at Baptist Health Floyd in southern Indiana, where he led efforts to improve patient care and system performance.
Previously, Dr. Phillips served as Regional Medical Director for Illinois Emergency Medicine Specialists, working with UChicago Medicine AdventHealth’s hospitals in Hinsdale, La Grange, Bolingbrook, and Glendale Heights. He also directed the emergency department at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks, focusing on quality improvement and evidence-based care.

Dr. Phillips holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University, a medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His residency in emergency medicine was completed through the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
AdventHealth Orlando was founded in 1908 in Orlando, Florida. It operates as a training hospital with a pediatric ward under its current president Terry Shaw.
