The City of Orlando will begin renovations on Albert Park in College Park with a ceremonial groundbreaking scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart are set to join community members at the event.
According to city officials, planned improvements for the park include construction of a new 20-foot by 30-foot pavilion equipped with a stage, as well as updated landscaping and lighting. The project will also add new seating and a viewing area while removing aging infrastructure. These changes aim to make the park more vibrant, accessible, and functional for local residents.
In recognition of the park’s history, the city will distribute 50 Albert Park oak seedlings during the groundbreaking ceremony. These seedlings were grown from acorns collected before the removal of an iconic oak tree that was damaged in 2020 and further impacted by nearby infrastructure work. The renovation plans also call for planting additional trees: five winged elms, one golden trumpet, eight crape myrtles, and five high-rise oaks. The city intends to distribute another 50 seedlings at a ribbon-cutting event when renovations are complete.
The ceremony is set for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Albert Park located at 2400 Edgewater Drive.
