AdventHealth Medical Group has announced the addition of Aaron W. Barton, MD, MS, a board-certified endocrinologist, to its team in Western North Carolina. Dr. Barton will be providing care at AdventHealth Medical Group Endocrinology at Hendersonville.

Dr. Barton’s practice covers a range of endocrine disorders including diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2), thyroid disease and nodules, pituitary, adrenal and parathyroid conditions, osteoporosis, and metabolic disorders. He focuses on listening to patients, explaining each part of their care plan, and helping them understand their health issues so they can make informed decisions.

“At AdventHealth, we believe care should treat the whole person — body, mind and spirit,” said Christy Sneller, MBA, Vice President of Physician Services for AdventHealth in North Carolina. “Dr. Barton’s thoughtful, patient-centered approach reflects our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ and ensures our neighbors have access to care that is both expert and compassionate.”

Dr. Barton holds dual board certifications in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Before moving into clinical practice, he worked in pharmaceutical and medical research. His shift to direct patient care was influenced by personal loss.

“Research plays an essential role in advancing medicine, but I felt called to work directly with patients,” Dr. Barton said. “My goal is to help people understand what’s happening in their bodies, answer their questions honestly and walk alongside them as they work toward better health. I’m grateful to be joining AdventHealth and becoming part of a community that values connection, faith and whole-person care.”

He also mentioned his appreciation for the close-knit environment at AdventHealth and its focus on supporting people beyond just treating illnesses. Collaboration with other providers is important in his approach.

In addition to his medical background, Dr. Barton enjoys activities such as riding motorcycles, amateur radio operation, playing guitar and keyboards, and exploring local cuisine.
