Nathanael Torres has been appointed as the new chief financial officer at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach, with his role beginning on February 8.

Torres brings a background in healthcare finance and hospital operations. He previously served as finance director at Kettering Health, where he worked with senior leaders to improve financial performance and support organizational growth.

In his new position, Torres will manage the hospital’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and performance management. Dr. Dennis Hernandez, president and CEO of AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach, said: “Nathanael brings both strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of how financial decisions affect patient care and our teams. He leads with integrity and transparency, and I’m confident his leadership will help position our hospital for continued stability and growth as we serve our community.”

Torres is recognized for using financial data to inform decisions that support high-quality care and sustainability. At Kettering Health, he contributed to a financial turnaround by aligning staffing models with patient volumes and improving financial reporting.

“I’m honored to join AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach and to serve an organization so deeply committed to whole-person care,” said Torres. “As CFO, my focus will be on thoughtful stewardship and ensuring our caregivers and leaders have the resources needed to care for our community today and in the future.”

Torres holds an MBA from the University of Southern Indiana and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Union Adventist University. He has also been involved in service through leadership roles within his faith community and international mission work.

AdventHealth Orlando is located in Orlando, Florida. Founded in 1908, it serves as a training hospital with pediatric services under its current president Terry Shaw.
