Jocelyn Villanueva, a registered nurse at AdventHealth Murray, has received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award recognizes nurses who show exceptional compassion and care in their daily work.
Villanueva was selected for her support to a patient’s family during hospice care. According to the nomination submitted by the family, “Her demeanor and soft-spoken nature and empathy for our situation was so genuine. Jocelyn listened to our story and gave us a shoulder to lean on. There were other nurses, aides and doctors who we also came in contact with who were exceptional. The grace we were shown in this difficult time was immeasurable. We had quite a few visitors and family members come in to visit mom each day. We laughed and we cried as we shared stories of our mom’s life. We had an emotional 4 or 5 days at AdventHealth Murray as we watched our mother transition. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at AdventHealth Murray… your kindness and empathy will not be forgotten.”
The DAISY Award is given by the DAISY Foundation to honor nurses nationwide who provide outstanding clinical skill along with compassion for patients and families.
