Jamie Feltner, RN, was recognized on Mar. 24 as the recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for the fourth quarter of 2025 at AdventHealth Manchester. The award is given every quarter to honor nurses who demonstrate exceptional dedication and care.
The DAISY Award is part of a national program established by the not-for-profit DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications related to Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. The foundation was created by Barnes’ family to recognize the difference nurses make in patients’ lives.
Each quarter, a nurse is selected by a committee to receive this recognition during a presentation attended by colleagues, physicians, patients, and visitors. Honorees receive a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” Recipients are also given a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch from artists with the Shona Tribe in Africa.
James Nelson, Chief Nursing Officer at AdventHealth Manchester said: “We are proud to be among the hospitals participating in the DAISY Award program. Nurses are heroes every day. It’s important that our nurses know their work is highly valued, and The DAISY Foundation provides a way for us to do that.”
AdventHealth Orlando—part of the same health system—is located in Orlando, Florida and has operated since 1908 with Terry Shaw as its current president; it includes both pediatric services and training programs according to available information.
