IAM Union members and supporters of Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC) convened in Las Vegas for a charity week aimed at raising funds for the organization’s service dog programs. The event included various activities such as a sporting clay shoot, race car driving, ax throwing, golf, and a gala dinner. These efforts support GDA | TLC’s work providing service dogs to people who are blind or living with PTSD and autism.

Brian Bryant, International President of the IAM Union, acknowledged the turnout and contributions from participants and sponsors across different territories. “I want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s events and all our sponsors for their continued support,” said Bryant on behalf of the IAM Executive Council.

The Saturday night gala dinner drew over 1,000 attendees and recognized individuals and organizations with the “Gift of Sight” awards. This year’s honorees were David Sullivan, IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President; Arthur Maratea, TCU/IAM National President; and Southwest Airlines.

Speakers at the event discussed how service dogs have positively changed recipients’ lives. Among them was a Canadian military veteran who shared his story about working with his PTSD service dog Oakley.
