The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has unanimously elected Commissioner Gabriella Passidomo Smith as its next Chairman. Her two-year term will begin on January 2, 2026. Passidomo Smith was first appointed to the FPSC in 2021 and is currently serving a term that extends through 2027.

“I am deeply honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me to serve as Chairman,” said Chairman-Elect Passidomo Smith. “The Commission’s work directly impacts millions of Floridians, and I look forward to leading with transparency, accountability, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring reliable service and fair rates as our state continues to grow.”

Passidomo Smith is active in national regulatory organizations. She is a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and recently joined its Board of Directors for a four-year term. She represents the Southeastern region on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission/NARUC Federal and State Current Issues Collaborative and serves on several NARUC committees focused on electricity, gas, pipeline safety, and gas planning. Additionally, she was named First Vice President of the SEARUC Executive Committee.

Before joining the FPSC as a commissioner, Passidomo Smith worked in its Office of General Counsel where she provided legal analysis on regulatory matters under the commission’s jurisdiction.

Her academic background includes graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, earning a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law, membership in the Florida Bar, and obtaining an MBA from Florida State University.
