Florida marked Lineworker Appreciation Day on August 26, 2025, recognizing the efforts of lineworkers who maintain and restore power across the state. The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) encouraged residents to acknowledge the daily work of these professionals.
“As Florida continues to strengthen its energy grid and storm readiness, we must remember that lineworkers are the frontline heroes keeping power safe and reliable,” said FPSC Chairman Mike La Rosa. “We are grateful every day for the men and women who risk their lives to ensure Floridians have the essential service of electricity.”
Lineworkers in Florida are trained to operate safely in hazardous conditions such as high winds, heavy rain, and storms. They often assist in recovery efforts outside their communities when disasters occur elsewhere. Across the United States, lineworkers help maintain over 5.5 million miles of distribution lines that supply electricity to homes and businesses.
The Florida House of Representatives established Lineworker Appreciation Day in 2012 to recognize those who risk their safety daily to provide consistent electric service throughout the state.
