The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) will begin a technical hearing on October 6, 2025, to review Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) request for a base rate increase. The hearing will take place at the Betty Easley Conference Center in Tallahassee and is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.
According to the FPSC, FPL submitted its petition for the rate increase on February 28, 2025. The company supplies electricity to six million customer accounts across Northwest and peninsular Florida.
To collect feedback from customers about FPL’s service quality and proposed rate changes, the commission held ten service hearings during May and June of this year. These included three virtual sessions and seven in-person meetings.
The upcoming technical hearing will allow FPL and other involved parties to present sworn testimony and evidence supporting their positions regarding the rate proposal.
A live broadcast of the hearing will be available online through the FPSC website. Additional coverage may be provided by The Florida Channel, depending on local programming schedules.
