From Barely Surviving to Thriving, a continuing medical education (CME) webinar scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 26 at noon ET, is among several educational sessions developed by the Florida Medical Association’s (FMA) Women in Medicine Committee.
“I’m so appreciative that the FMA Board of Governors (BOG) created a Women in Medicine Committee to support the needs of our women physician members,” said Rebekah Bernard, MD, an FMA BOG member who serves as committee chair. “Studies show that women physicians have a higher rate of burnout than our male colleagues, and of even greater concern, a 24-percent greater chance of suicide than the general population.”
Dr. Bernard stated that the FMA is dedicated to supporting women physicians in their medical practice.
Additional events focused on women in medicine are planned for the coming months. On Friday, April 4, the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville will hold the Women in Medicine & Science Conference at the Mariott Jacksonville. Registration details will be shared in future editions of FMA News.
The 2025 South Florida Women Physicians Retreat is set for Saturday, May 3 at the Hyatt House in Naples. The event is organized by multiple local medical societies including Broward, Collier, Dade, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Palm Beach, and Sarasota counties. The retreat will feature presentations and group discussions along with lunch and an evening reception.
