Business and policy leaders from across Florida are set to gather at the Florida Chamber Foundation’s 2025 Florida Transportation, Growth & Infrastructure Solution Summit. The event aims to serve as a forum for asset owners, developers, engineers, logistics firms, economic developers, and policymakers to discuss the state’s infrastructure needs as its population continues to rise.
The summit will address challenges such as international trade and seaport growth strategy, energy infrastructure, broadband expansion, affordable workforce housing, transportation demands, and aerospace industry requirements. Attendees will hear insights from key figures including Jared Perdue, Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), who will provide early details on FDOT’s upcoming Florida Transportation Plan 2055.
Other speakers include Beth Cooley of Amazon; Rob Long of Space Florida; Bryan Griffin of VISIT FLORIDA; Ashley Dietz of the Florida Philanthropic Network; Matt Swanson of SelectFlorida and FloridaCommerce; Captain John W. Murray of Port Canaveral; Kevin Carr of FloridaMakes; and Jessica Ottaviano from FDOT.
During the summit, the Florida Chamber Foundation will release findings from a new study that examines how an undercount in the 2020 Census affected federal funding allocations at the county level. According to research by the Foundation, approximately 750,000 residents were not counted in 2020. This shortfall led to an estimated $11 billion loss in federal tax dollars that could have supported community reinvestment and infrastructure projects throughout the state.
Dr. Keith Richard, Vice President of Research for the Florida Chamber Foundation said: “Florida is projected to add more than 2.5 million residents by 2030, welcome 40 million annual visitors, and see roughly 2.1 million new drivers on its roadways. These insights highlight the importance of an accurate 2030 Census count to make certain Florida’s communities receive their fair share of federal funding and have community investments that keep pace with our state’s growth. We’ll be unveiling a research study at the Summit showing how much federal funding each Florida county missed out on due to the 2020 Census undercount.”
Mark Wilson, President & CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Foundation added: “As Florida continues to grow, our infrastructure must not only keep pace but lead the way. At the Florida Chamber Foundation, we are uniting business, policy, and community leaders to position Florida competitively on a global scale while building the foundation for long-term prosperity.”
