Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has announced the allocation of $40 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP) to expand workforce education programs in Florida. The funding will be distributed among 49 programs across the state, increasing their workforce capacity by 59 percent.
According to Commissioner Kamoutsas, “Florida’s workforce is stronger than ever because we are investing directly in students and the programs that prepare them for success. This $40 million investment expands opportunities across the state, giving students access to cutting-edge training and ensuring Florida remains the best place to build a career.”
The Workforce CAP program supports both high school and postsecondary education institutions by providing resources for hands-on training in industries with high demand for skilled workers. Since its inception in 2023, total investments under this initiative have reached $240 million.
The grant aims to help establish and grow career and technical education programs that lead to industry-recognized certifications. These efforts are intended to ensure that students throughout Florida have access to necessary tools, resources, and training for emerging industries as part of meeting economic demands.
More information about the grant program and application details can be found on the CAP Grant page of the FDOE website.
