Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky, along with its customers, employees, and local partners, has provided more than $860,000 in energy assistance this year through the Share the Light Fund. The program aims to help families keep their homes warm and powered during the winter months.

The funding comes from contributions by Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky, the Duke Energy Foundation, employees, and customers. More than a third of the total was supplied by the Duke Energy Foundation, which also invested an additional $100,000 earlier in the year to assist families during periods of extreme heat.

Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky collaborates with community organizations such as Salvation Army, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission to distribute aid on both sides of the river. These partnerships ensure that those facing difficult circumstances have access to necessary support.

“Behind every request for help is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time,” said Kim Vogelgesang, Duke Energy Foundation manager. “Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”

Last year, Duke Energy and its foundation contributed over $2.6 million to nonprofits within its Ohio and Kentucky service areas. Employees also supported charitable efforts with more than $650,000 through volunteer hours and financial donations.

Customers seeking assistance can locate local agencies using Duke Energy’s Payment Assistance Finder tool. Those interested in supporting others may set up recurring or one-time contributions to the Share the Light Fund.

Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky provides electric service to 910,000 customers across 3,000 square miles and natural gas service to 560,000 customers across 2,650 square miles in Ohio and Kentucky. The parent company serves millions of customers across several states and continues investments aimed at grid upgrades and cleaner energy sources.
