Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation have announced a $100,000 donation to the One SC Fund, an initiative recently activated by Governor Henry McMaster to aid food banks across South Carolina. This support comes as part of the company’s broader annual campaign to address hunger in the state.

In addition to this contribution, Duke Energy will provide another $500,000 throughout November to more than 60 feeding programs statewide. The company stated that these efforts are particularly important amid ongoing funding uncertainties faced by food assistance organizations during colder months and the holiday season. Since 2021, Duke Energy and its foundation have contributed over $2.6 million to agencies combating hunger in South Carolina.

Governor Henry McMaster expressed his appreciation for the support: “Duke Energy’s contribution to the One SC Fund highlights the very best of South Carolina. At a time when many families are facing uncertainty, Team South Carolina is coming together to support our food banks and put food on the table. I’m grateful for their generosity and hope it will encourage others to join our effort to help families in need.”

Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy in South Carolina, said: “These organizations are fighting the good fight every day in communities across our state, but they cannot do it alone. Duke Energy is happy to stand with the governor, and we encourage other corporate entities, organizations and citizens across the state to help support the fight against hunger.”

The monthlong campaign will also include volunteer work by Duke Energy employees with community partners such as Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mill Village Farms, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, FoodShare South Carolina and AIM.

Customers experiencing difficulty affording groceries may also struggle with utility bills. Duke Energy offers resources for families seeking assistance managing their energy costs at duke-energy.com/SeasonalSavings.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support funded by shareholders.

Duke Energy serves electric customers in six states and natural gas customers in four states while investing in grid upgrades and cleaner energy sources.
