In recognition of Veterans Day, the Duke Energy Foundation has announced nearly $50,000 in grants to ten organizations across Indiana that serve veterans and their families. The funding aims to support programs focused on transitional housing, mental health services, and essential needs for veterans in various communities.

“Veterans embody service, leadership and commitment – qualities that strengthen our communities every day,” said Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana. “These grants are a token of our appreciation and a way to help local partners deliver the housing, counseling and basic needs that veterans and their families deserve.”

The organizations receiving grants include Family Service Association of Howard County for revitalizing the Peace Garden in Kokomo; Huntington County Government for emergency financial assistance to veterans; Irreverent Warriors for mental health outreach; Kaiser Home Support Services for Liberty Place residential facility; Lafayette Transitional Housing Center for direct support to homeless veterans; People and Animal Learning Services for the VETS program involving experiential education with horses; Sons of the American Legion Post 77 for constructing a memorial monument; United Way of the Wabash Valley for expanding a Vietnam exhibit at the Veterans Memorial Museum of Terre Haute; Upstream Prevention for tailoring suicide prevention resources to military-connected residents; and Veterans Support Network for providing rental, mortgage, food, and repair assistance.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support to address community needs where its customers live and work. The foundation is funded by shareholders of Duke Energy.

Duke Energy Indiana is a subsidiary of Duke Energy. It supplies approximately 6,300 megawatts of owned electric capacity to about 920,000 customers within a 23,000-square-mile area. This makes it the largest electric supplier in Indiana.
