Duke Energy Florida hosted its Neighborhood Energy Saver Program in Clearwater on April 9, with about 75 local residents attending the event at the Ross Norton Recreation Center. The program aims to help customers lower their monthly electricity bills by offering free walkthrough energy assessments and a range of energy-saving improvements.

The initiative is designed to provide support for eligible customers as they head into the summer months, when energy usage typically increases. “Our Neighborhood Energy Saver program is just one of the many resources we offer to help connect customers with ways to lower their energy bill,” said Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida. “By bringing our team and the community together, we’re able to get more support in the hands of customers in need as we head into the summer.”

Eligible participants can receive up to 20 different energy-saving upgrades at no cost. These include insulation upgrades, sealing air-conditioning ducts, basic air-conditioning maintenance, smart thermostats, energy efficient lightbulbs, a one-year supply of air-conditioning filters, energy saving showerheads, and water saving kitchen and bathroom aerators. The program is available for both homeowners and renters living in communities identified by Duke Energy Florida using federal and state guidelines along with census data.

Since 1981, Duke Energy has helped its Florida customers save nearly $1.25 billion through various energy efficiency programs including this one.
