The U.S. Census Bureau will release three reports next month that estimate income, poverty, and health insurance coverage in the United States for 2024. The findings will be presented at an online news conference scheduled for Tuesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.
The reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—are based on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These documents provide annual statistics on national income, earnings, inequality, official poverty rates and Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) estimates, as well as national-level health insurance coverage.
According to the Census Bureau, these statistics are used to evaluate economic trends and assess the well-being of households, families, and individuals across the country. The health insurance report examines coverage status by select characteristics to help understand individual well-being.
Presenters at the news conference will include David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; and Julie Iriondo, chief of Media Relations Branch who will serve as moderator.
