The U.S. Census Bureau has published new data tables from the Annual Survey of State Government Finances, summarizing state government financial activity for fiscal year 2024. The tables provide detailed information for each state, including revenue sources, expenditures, and debt.

According to the Census Bureau, “These statistics provide a summary of the finances of state governments for fiscal year 2024. Tables include data for each state, along with detailed information on revenue sources, spending and debt.”

The data is used by federal, state, and local governments as well as educational and research organizations to conduct comparative studies and support activities such as developing the government component of gross domestic product.

The survey is conducted annually and serves as a supplement to the Annual Survey of State and Local Government Finances.
