AdventHealth has announced the addition of Dr. Craig Burnworth to its medical team at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at Candler in North Carolina. Dr. Burnworth is board-certified in family medicine and primary care sports medicine and will provide acute and family medicine care through same-day appointments.
Dr. Burnworth received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, completed a residency at Palmetto Richland Family Practice Residency in Columbia, South Carolina, and a fellowship at Moses Cone Family Medicine Residency Sports Medicine Fellowship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He emphasizes the importance of building relationships with patients and creating personalized care plans that reflect individual goals and values. “I truly enjoy the patient experience,” Dr. Burnworth explains. “I enjoy getting to know my patients and connecting with them. I think by first doing this, I then can take the best care of them. I’m invested in my patients having a good experience and getting the best care I can provide.”
Dr. Burnworth was inspired to practice medicine during his time as a Boy Scout and later served in the U.S. Air Force, providing medical care during Operation Iraqi Freedom. “Taking care of active-duty military members was a true privilege,” he shares.
With more than 18 years of experience in musculoskeletal care, sports medicine, and urgent care, Dr. Burnworth remains dedicated to whole-person care. “My commitment to care begins with a deep respect for the whole person – not just symptoms or diagnosis, but your story, values and goals,” Dr. Burnworth says. “Whether I’m supporting your health journey or guiding a team, I lead with compassion, integrity and connection. Outside his medical career, Dr. Burnworth enjoys hiking, birding, traveling, spending time with his family, meditation, and recently completed a pilgrimage through Portugal and Spain.
