AdventHealth Sebring has announced an expansion project that will add more than 100,000 square feet of clinical space to the hospital. The development aims to increase capacity and update technology for diagnosing and treating heart disease, allowing patients in Highlands County and nearby areas to receive advanced care without traveling long distances.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 21, with AdventHealth leaders and local officials marking the start of the new medical tower. The expansion is intended to serve people who previously had to seek complex heart procedures far from home. New features will include cardiovascular operating rooms, a hybrid cardiovascular lab, an outpatient cardiac catheterization lab, updated CT imaging technology capable of coronary CTA studies, and expanded intensive care unit beds specifically for cardiovascular surgery patients.

The hospital expects to hire up to 200 new staff members across various roles such as physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists as part of this growth.

“This expansion is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a promise to our community. We’re building not just for today, but for generations to come, and this shows our unwavering commitment to making sure every person who lives or visits here can access world-class, whole-person care without leaving Highlands County,” said Jason Dunkel, president/CEO of AdventHealth Sebring.

HuntonBrady has been selected as the architecture firm for the project. Construction management will be handled by Brasfield & Gorrie, with work expected to begin in March and finish in Fall 2027.

“It’s easy to get excited about health care construction for the Heartland community because the impact is obvious,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Brad Runyan. “It’s an honor to expand AdventHealth’s care in Sebring. We’ve spent more than three decades and 300 projects together, and this hospital expansion allows us to partner with the hospital in building a stronger community for Sebring for generations to come.”

AdventHealth Orlando is another facility within the AdventHealth system. Founded in 1908 in Orlando, Florida, it serves as a training hospital under current president Terry Shaw.
