AdventHealth Polk has announced a partnership with Wake Forest Emergency Providers, which is part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. This move ensures that all emergency physicians at AdventHealth Polk are board-certified in emergency medicine.

Many physicians from the previous emergency team have joined Wake Forest Emergency Providers, allowing local patients to continue seeing familiar doctors. The collaboration aims to enhance care quality for residents in Polk and surrounding counties. The new team consists of full-time emergency medicine physicians, supported by additional providers from AdventHealth Hendersonville.

Dr. John Binford, a long-standing leader on the AdventHealth Polk (formerly St. Luke’s Hospital) Emergency team, now leads the group. He is board-certified and experienced in emergency medicine leadership. The providers will use updated clinical protocols developed at Wake Forest Baptist to deliver consistent care throughout the region.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with AdventHealth to provide exceptional-quality emergency care to those in Polk County and the surrounding communities,” said Dr. Chad Miller, president of Wake Forest Emergency Providers and North Carolina and Georgia leader of emergency medicine for Advocate Health, of which Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is part.

“It is our honor to provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care to hospitals across North Carolina and we look forward to partnering with the AdventHealth Polk team to serve this community,” added Miller, who also serves as chair of emergency medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

This development extends an existing relationship between Wake Forest Emergency Providers and AdventHealth Hendersonville, where they have provided services for some time. The partnership at AdventHealth Polk aims to further support whole-person care and high clinical standards.

“This is more than a staffing change; it’s a strategic step forward in how we deliver emergency care,” said Brandon Nudd, FACHE, president and CEO for AdventHealth Hendersonville and AdventHealth Polk. “Our patients can expect shorter wait times, advanced triage practices, and a team that is deeply connected to the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.”

AdventHealth Polk is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving people in Polk County and nearby areas. With this partnership, its Emergency Department offers around-the-clock expert care every day.

AdventHealth Orlando was established in 1908 in Orlando, Florida. Its current president is Terry Shaw. The hospital includes pediatric facilities and serves as a training hospital (https://www.adventhealth.com/hospital/adventhealth-orlando).
