AdventHealth has announced the opening of two new freestanding emergency rooms in Central Florida, aiming to improve access to emergency medical care in rapidly expanding communities. The new facilities, AdventHealth Poinciana ER and AdventHealth Sanford ER, will begin serving patients on October 6.
The organization stated that this expansion demonstrates its commitment to meeting the urgent health needs of Central Florida’s fastest-growing areas. AdventHealth was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the top hospital in Florida and among the top 20 hospitals nationwide.
AdventHealth Poinciana ER is located in a growing area spanning Osceola and Polk counties. The facility is 15,000 square feet and includes 16 patient beds, respiratory therapy services, diagnostic imaging such as X-ray, CT, and ultrasound, an on-site laboratory for rapid results, an on-site pharmacy for convenience, and smart-room technology that allows remote connections between patients, their care teams, and loved ones.
“AdventHealth Poinciana ER reflects our commitment to meeting people where they are with life-saving care when they need it most,” said Craig Moore, CEO of AdventHealth Kissimmee. “This community has grown tremendously, and it’s important to us that residents have convenient access to the highest level of emergency care close to home.”
Dr. Ketan Pandya, emergency department medical director for AdventHealth Kissimmee, added: “When minutes matter, proximity to advanced emergency services can save lives. Having a dedicated ER in Poinciana ensures families have immediate access to expert care without needing to travel long distances.”
AdventHealth Sanford ER is situated in Seminole County’s northern corridor. The 13,300-square-foot facility offers 12 patient beds and one triage room for rapid assessment and patient flow. It also features diagnostic imaging (X-ray and CT), an on-site laboratory for immediate test results, an on-site pharmacy for convenience, and smart-room technology.
“As Seminole County continues to grow, we are pleased to bring trusted AdventHealth emergency care to Sanford,” said Jeff Villanueva, CEO of AdventHealth Altamonte Springs. “Our goal is to ensure families in this thriving community have immediate access to the emergency expertise they deserve.”
Dr. Zack Weagraff, AdventHealth’s emergency medical director in Seminole County said: “Emergencies don’t wait, and neither should patients. Facilities like AdventHealth Sanford ER ensure our community has access to life-saving treatments around the clock.”
Both new locations will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurses. More than 120 jobs will be created at these two facilities.
AdventHealth Orlando was founded in 1908 and is based in Orlando. Its current president is Terry Shaw. The hospital includes a pediatric ward and serves as a training hospital.
