Families in Minneola and South Lake County now have access to a new hospital with the opening of AdventHealth Minneola. The facility aims to provide comprehensive care close to home, reflecting AdventHealth’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
Kay Barnett, CEO of AdventHealth Minneola, stated, “Our goal is simple — to make sure families never have to leave home to receive trusted, compassionate care that helps them heal in body, mind and spirit. We know how important it is for patients to be surrounded by their loved ones during times of healing. This hospital ensures that South Lake County families can stay close to home while receiving the exceptional care AdventHealth is known for nationwide.”
AdventHealth Minneola becomes the ninth hospital in the AdventHealth Central Florida Division. It offers a full-service emergency department, imaging and diagnostic services, five operating suites with endoscopy services, an outpatient laboratory, heart catheterization labs, as well as 40 critical care rooms and 40 general medical/surgical rooms.
The need for these services is significant in South Lake County. Nearly half of local residents currently travel outside the area for inpatient care according to data from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
Dr. Miles Bennett, chief medical officer at AdventHealth Minneola said, “This marks a new chapter for health care in South Lake County. Our team of skilled physicians and specialists is here to deliver advanced medical expertise with uncommon compassion the kind that reflects our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ and help every person feel whole.”
The hospital is located within a community hub surrounded by homes and businesses. Construction has started on an adjacent medical office building that will offer outpatient services such as gastroenterology, urology, oncology, cardiology, surgery specialties including vascular and orthopedics; sports medicine; rehabilitation; laboratory; and pharmacy.
AdventHealth Minneola joins a network recognized by U.S. News & World Report as Florida’s top-ranked hospital system and among the top 20 hospitals nationally.
Mayor Pat Kelley commented on behalf of city officials: “It is an honor for me and my fellow City Council members to officially welcome AdventHealth to Minneola. The opening of AdventHealth Minneola marks a milestone for our community — one that brings not only excellent care close to home but also creates hundreds of new opportunities for families to live and work right here.”
The opening brings more than 500 jobs to the area.
AdventHealth Orlando—the flagship facility—was founded in 1908 in Orlando, Florida. Its current president is Terry Shaw. The institution includes a pediatric ward and serves as a training hospital.
