Sarah Parvin, a registered nurse at AdventHealth Hendersonville, has been named the latest recipient of the DAISY Award. The recognition highlights her compassionate approach to patient care in the Medical-Surgical Unit.
Parvin was nominated after caring for a patient who was admitted for cardiac evaluation following chest pain before a scheduled surgery. Though test results showed no serious concerns, the patient and his wife faced stress from the unexpected situation. Parvin provided support beyond physical care, regularly checking on how the patient was coping emotionally.
The patient wrote in his nomination, “It was obvious she cared about what was going on with me and my situation. Please let her know I appreciate her kindness and support during my stay. It was comforting to know she truly loves what she does.”
AdventHealth Hendersonville officials stated that Parvin’s actions reflect the organization’s mission to offer whole-person care and create an environment where patients feel safe and supported.
The DAISY Award began in 1999, established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to honor nurses after Barnes died from an autoimmune disease. The award serves as a way for families to thank nurses who have provided exceptional care during difficult times.
