AdventHealth has announced changes to its leadership in the Rocky Mountain Region, aiming to support growing communities and maintain access to care that addresses patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Brett Spenst will take on the role of senior executive officer for the Rocky Mountain Region, overseeing all aspects of operations. David Weis will join as president and CEO of the region, reporting directly to Spenst. The appointments are effective January 25.
Andrew Jahn, executive vice president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Multi-State Division, said: “As the Rocky Mountain Region continues to grow, so do the needs of the people and families who depend on our care. By strengthening our leadership foundation, we are ensuring our teams are supported and our communities can rely on AdventHealth for high-quality, faith-based, whole-person care today and into the future.”
Spenst has served as regional president/CEO since 2023. He has overseen a network that includes five hospitals along with emergency rooms, urgent care centers, imaging services, outpatient facilities, and physician practices. His experience includes leadership roles at AdventHealth Orlando—founded in 1908 in Orlando, Florida—and other health systems such as Kettering Health Network in Ohio and Adventist Health in California. Spenst holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; a bachelor’s degree from Loma Linda University; is a certified public accountant; and serves as chairman of Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital’s board in Nepal.
Jahn described Spenst’s approach: “Brett leads with purpose and a deep sense of responsibility to both people and mission. His approach reflects our promise of wholeness and ensures that as we grow, we do so with compassion, integrity and a clear focus on the communities we serve.”
Spenst commented: “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this region and the people who depend on us for care. Our focus will remain on supporting our caregivers, strengthening access and walking alongside our communities as they grow.”
David Weis comes from his current position as president/CEO of AdventHealth East Florida Division Atlantic Coastal Region. There he led efforts to expand surgical services and invest in advanced capabilities while focusing on patient-centered care environments.
“David brings a mission-grounded, people-first approach to leadership,” said Spenst. “He understands how strategy, operations and mission come together to create care experiences that truly support wholeness.”
Weis holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University; an MBA in health care management from Quinnipiac University; and a Bachelor of Science from Southwestern Adventist University. He is also active in community organizations including Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation.
Weis stated: “I am honored to join the Rocky Mountain Region and build on the strong foundation already in place. Together with our teams, we will continue expanding access to care and delivering experiences that help people feel supported, known and whole.”
The organization says these appointments reinforce its commitment to providing stable leadership focused on compassionate service throughout the Rocky Mountain Region.
