AdventHealth Littleton has received the City of Littleton’s inaugural Cutting Edge Award for District III, recognizing its commitment to innovation, creativity, and collaboration in health care.
The hospital was nominated for its Heart & Vascular Institute, which opened in August. The facility offers advanced treatments and features specialized cardiovascular operating rooms, electrophysiology labs, and a dedicated cardiovascular intensive care unit.
Matt Mendenhall, MD, Chief Medical Officer of AdventHealth Littleton, stated: “We’re proud of being on the leading edge of technology through the groundbreaking work of our Heart & Vascular Institute. Innovation is not just about advancing technology, it’s about advancing care. By reimagining cardiovascular medicine, we’re ensuring our patients receive the best outcomes and the compassionate, whole-person care they deserve.”
In collaboration with South Denver Cardiology, the institute has introduced several new procedures to Colorado. It is the first in the state to offer pulsed field ablation and cardioneural ablation—techniques that target abnormal heart tissue. The hospital also leads in using leadless pacemaker implants and has adopted cardiac catheterization lab technology that reduces radiation exposure for patients and staff by eliminating the need for heavy lead vests.
AdventHealth Orlando is part of the same health system as AdventHealth Littleton. Located in Orlando, Florida, AdventHealth Orlando was founded in 1908. Its current president is Terry Shaw. The hospital includes a pediatric ward and serves as a training hospital.
