AdventHealth has announced the implementation of temporary visitor restrictions at its North Carolina facilities in response to a rise in respiratory illnesses, including flu, COVID-19, and RSV. The measures are intended to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
“These measures are being taken out of an abundance of care for our community,” said Victoria Dunkle, Spokesperson for AdventHealth North Carolina. “Our priority is to provide safe, compassionate care while reducing the spread of illness, especially among our most vulnerable patients.”
The protocols include asking patients with respiratory symptoms to inform staff at check-in. Visitors who have symptoms are encouraged to delay their visit until they are well. Currently, visitors under 18 years old are not allowed. Masks are required for visitors seeing patients on respiratory illness protocols.
AdventHealth is also advising all individuals entering its facilities to wear high-quality masks when appropriate, cover coughs and sneezes, and practice regular hand hygiene with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitizer.
“These precautions allow us to continue caring for the whole person — body, mind and spirit — while supporting the health of our patients, families and caregivers,” Dunkle added.
The hospital will review these restrictions regularly based on local illness trends and guidance from public health authorities. Updates can be found at AdventHealthNC.com.
