AdventHealth Hendersonville has received the Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), highlighting its efforts to create a supportive environment for nurses and promote high standards in patient care.

The Pathway to Excellence Program recognizes health care organizations that demonstrate a culture based on shared decision-making, leadership, safety, quality, well-being, and professional development. The ANCC states that “nurses are empowered and given a voice” in these organizations, which helps maintain excellence in both patient care and staff experience.

Maureen Dzialo, MS, RN, Chief Nursing Officer for AdventHealth in North Carolina, said: “At AdventHealth, our nurses carry our mission forward with compassion that touches every patient and family we serve. This Pathway to Excellence designation reflects the heart of our team — their courage, their dedication and the way they care for the whole person: body, mind and spirit. I am incredibly proud of our nurses for building a culture where people feel supported, safe and deeply valued.”

AdventHealth Hendersonville has worked on strengthening shared governance councils, providing well-being resources, and expanding opportunities for professional growth. These efforts aim to ensure that nurses feel supported at work so they can provide compassionate care to patients.

Fionna Phillips, MSN, RN, NE-BC, RNC-NIC, Nursing Excellence Program Manager at AdventHealth Hendersonville who helped lead the Pathway to Excellence process said: “Our nurses shaped this achievement. They shared their experiences, elevated ideas and supported one another every step of the way. Most importantly, they reminded us that when we care for our nurses, we care better for our patients. This recognition reflects their courage, their voice and their commitment to helping every person who walks through our doors feel whole.”

As part of maintaining its status as a Pathway organization, AdventHealth Hendersonville will continue investing in six key standards: shared decision-making; leadership; safety; quality; well-being; and professional development.
