AdventHealth Gordon will hold a free lung cancer screening event on Saturday, November 8, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the AdventHealth Harris Radiation Therapy Center. The event is scheduled to coincide with National Lung Cancer Screening Day and is aimed at community members who do not have insurance coverage and meet certain eligibility criteria.

The hospital has been recognized as a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology (ACR). According to AdventHealth Gordon, this accreditation reflects the facility’s commitment to high standards in diagnostic care. The staff emphasizes the importance of early detection, especially for individuals at high risk, such as current or former smokers. “For those at high risk, especially current or former smokers, early detection through screening is key to improving survival rates,” the hospital stated.

Eligibility for the free screening is limited to adults aged 50 to 77 who have a 20-pack-a-year smoking history, currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years, and do not have insurance coverage. Registration is required due to limited spaces. Interested individuals can register by calling 706-879-5850.

AdventHealth Orlando, located in Orlando, Florida, was established in 1908 and serves as a training hospital with a pediatric ward. Its current president is Terry Shaw. More information about the hospital can be found at https://www.adventhealth.com/hospital/adventhealth-orlando.
