AdventHealth Georgia has announced the addition of three new leaders to its mission and ministry team. The organization stated that these appointments are intended to strengthen its commitment to whole-person care and enhance its spiritual foundation across the Georgia market.
Mack Vendome has been named the new mission and ministry Georgia market chaplain director, with primary responsibilities at AdventHealth Redmond. Vendome is a board-certified chaplain with training in crisis intervention and debriefing. He has worked with AdventHealth since 2019, most recently leading the chaplain team at AdventHealth Fish Memorial in central Florida. According to the announcement, “His leadership is rooted in compassion, and he is passionate about creating environments of wholeness that extend beyond hospital walls and into the heart of our communities.” Vendome, originally from Georgia, expressed enthusiasm about returning home and contributing to AdventHealth’s mission.
Elijah Walters will serve as the new director of mission and ministry at AdventHealth Gordon and AdventHealth Murray. Walters previously worked at AdventHealth Winter Park in central Florida as a critical care chaplain. His career with AdventHealth began in 2019 at AdventHealth Orlando, an institution established in 1908 that also serves as a training hospital. Walters holds degrees from Oakwood University and AdventHealth University. “He’s excited to be part of the Georgia team and looks forward to building meaningful connections,” according to the release.
Jocelyn Shaw has transitioned into the role of vice president of mission and ministry for the Southeast Region as of August. Shaw, who holds an MDiv degree and is a board-certified chaplain, has served as director of pastoral services for AdventHealth Hendersonville and AdventHealth Polk in western North Carolina over the past four years. She brings nine years of chaplaincy experience and 11 years with AdventHealth to her new position. The release noted, “Her compassionate leadership has earned the admiration of colleagues, patients, and community members alike.” Shaw will continue providing local ministry support from her office in North Carolina while serving in her regional capacity.
The organization stated: “AdventHealth Georgia is grateful to welcome Mack Vendome, Elijah Walters and Jocelyn Shaw to the AdventHealth Georgia mission and ministry team. Their leadership, compassion, and dedication to whole-person care will be instrumental in advancing the mission and enriching the spiritual life throughout northwest Georgia.”
