Access to urology care in southeast Volusia County is expanding with the addition of Dr. Beatriz Junqueira to AdventHealth Medical Group. Dr. Junqueira, a urology surgeon, will serve patients in New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange. AdventHealth Medical Group is a network of nearly 450 physicians and advanced practice providers serving Flagler, Lake, Sumter, and Volusia counties. The group has been increasing its staff to meet the needs of a growing local population, with almost 80 new physicians and advanced practitioners joining in Volusia County last year.

Urologic conditions such as kidney stones, pelvic floor disorders, cancers of the urinary tract, and erectile dysfunction affect many residents in the area. In Volusia County, where about 25% of residents are over age 65, there is a rising demand for specialty care.

Dr. Junqueira brings expertise in minimally invasive and reconstructive procedures. She will use advanced robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci Xi system, which allows for complex procedures with greater precision and shorter recovery times.

“The addition of Dr. Junqueira to our team means patients won’t have to wait as long or drive as far to see a urologist,” said Dr. Dennis Hernandez, president and CEO of AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach. “Specialties like urology are essential to helping people live healthier, fuller lives. By expanding this care locally, we are ensuring that patients have access to the highest level of expertise without having to leave their own community.”

Dr. Junqueira earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and has contributed to several research publications.

“I’ve seen how difficult it can be when someone delays care because of the distance or the wait,” said Junqueira. “My goal is to make that step easier — to listen, to offer the right options, and to help people get back to feeling like themselves again.”

Patients can see Dr. Junqueira at AdventHealth Medical Group Urology Surgery in New Smyrna Beach or Port Orange.

AdventHealth Orlando, located in Orlando, Florida, was founded in 1908. The hospital has a pediatric ward and serves as a training hospital under its current president Terry Shaw.
