AdventHealth Medical Group has expanded its oncology services in West Volusia by welcoming Dr. Mamta Vijayvargiya, a board-certified oncologist with over 25 years of experience, to AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City. Dr. Vijayvargiya’s clinical expertise includes treating breast, lung, and colorectal cancers, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, anemia, and providing supportive care during chemotherapy.
The addition of Dr. Vijayvargiya is part of a broader initiative by AdventHealth to increase access to specialty care throughout the region. In 2024 alone, AdventHealth Medical Group added more than 100 new clinicians across Flagler, Lake, Sumter, and Volusia counties, bringing its network to nearly 450 physicians and advanced practice providers.
“Dr. Vijayvargiya practices the highest standards of whole person care with uncommon compassion,” said Dr. Stephen Knych, chief medical officer at AdventHealth Fish Memorial. “She has a remarkable way of walking beside her patients and truly supporting them through some of the hardest moments of their lives. She is a great asset to this community, adding to the wonderful care provided by our current oncology partners in Florida Cancer Specialists and Mid-Florida Oncology.”
Dr. Vijayvargiya earned her medical degree from J.L.N. Medical College at the University of Rajasthan in India and completed her internal medicine residency at Jersey Shore Medical Center in New Jersey. She also completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York and is trained in anesthesiology. In addition to her clinical work, she has contributed to cancer research and awareness initiatives.
“Cancer care isn’t just about medications or scans,” she said. “It’s about sitting beside someone when they’re scared. It’s about celebrating the small wins. That’s what I’ve always believed — and that’s what AdventHealth believes too.”
Dr. Vijayvargiya is currently seeing patients at 1061 Medical Center Drive, Suite 110, Orange City.
AdventHealth Orlando serves as one of the main hospitals within the system; it was founded in 1908 in Orlando, Florida and operates under president Terry Shaw.
