AdventHealth Lake Wales has donated a significant amount of medical supplies to Webber International University after a fire destroyed the university’s training room and essential equipment. The fire, which occurred on August 15, left the university’s athletic teams, including 140 football players, without important health and safety resources for treating injuries.

After the incident, Webber International University sought assistance from community partners. AdventHealth responded by providing wound care supplies, splints, wraps, and other medical essentials on October 16. These donations will allow student-athletes to continue receiving proper care as they recover and finish their season.

“At AdventHealth, we believe in extending the healing ministry of Christ beyond hospital walls,” said Royce Brown, CEO of AdventHealth Lake Wales. “When Webber International University President Dr. Nelson Marquez asked for support, we knew we had to act. Supporting the health and safety of these student-athletes is part of our commitment to whole-person care and to being a trusted partner in our community’s well-being.”

Webber International University President Dr. Nelson Marquez expressed gratitude for the donation: “On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of Webber International University, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for AdventHealth’s generous donation of medical supplies for our athletic teams. Your support plays a vital role in helping us ensure the health, safety, and performance of our student-athletes,” Dr. Marquez said. “Your commitment to community wellness and partnership truly exemplifies the values we strive to instill in our students: care, collaboration, and excellence. We deeply appreciate your investment in our athletes’ well-being and your continued partnership in promoting a healthy campus community.”

AdventHealth Orlando is located in Orlando, Florida and was founded in 1908. Its current president is Terry Shaw. The hospital features a pediatric ward and serves as a training hospital.
