AdventHealth DeLand has announced plans to install a new MRI system aimed at improving patient care for the West Volusia community. The new Siemens MAGNETOM Sola MRI is expected to deliver faster exam times, clearer images, and an enhanced experience for patients.
According to AdventHealth DeLand, the new technology uses advanced design features and artificial intelligence to create detailed images more quickly than previous systems. This is intended to help doctors diagnose conditions sooner and with greater accuracy.
“This is an investment in people — in the families who count on us to provide care that’s not only advanced, but close to home,” said Khelsea Bauer, president and CEO of AdventHealth DeLand. “This next-generation MRI gives our community faster answers, greater comfort and more peace of mind.”
The system will feature a wider opening and higher weight limit, which may help reduce discomfort for some patients. It also allows for exams that are up to 50% faster than standard MRI procedures, enabling more patients to be seen each day.
Key aspects of the new MRI include personalized comfort settings that adjust automatically based on a patient’s breathing and heart rhythm; AI-powered imaging software designed for efficiency without compromising image quality; flexible equipment capable of handling scans across different body areas; and expanded safety measures allowing scans for many people with common medical implants.
“Every minute matters when making an accurate diagnosis,” said Dr. Thomas Scoggins, chief medical officer at AdventHealth DeLand. “This new MRI captures incredibly detailed images in less time — which means less waiting, less stress and faster answers for our patients. It’s a meaningful step forward in how we deliver care.”
Construction work is ongoing at the hospital campus while a mobile imaging unit continues to provide uninterrupted MRI services. The upgraded system is scheduled to become operational in the second quarter of 2026.
AdventHealth Orlando, located in Orlando, Florida, was founded in 1908 and currently operates under President Terry Shaw. The hospital includes pediatric facilities and serves as a training center for medical professionals.
