AdventHealth Medical Group has expanded its orthopedic care in Volusia County by adding three new surgeons. Dr. Shawn O’Keefe and Dr. James McFadden will be performing procedures at AdventHealth Daytona Beach, while Dr. Sonya Clark will see patients at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach.

Dr. O’Keefe specializes in robotic-assisted hip and knee replacements. “Orthopedic care is about restoring movement and confidence,” O’Keefe said. “For many patients, that means less pain and the ability to get back to work, stay active, or keep up with the people who matter most to them.” He completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, an orthopedic surgery residency at Broward Health Medical Center, and a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Dr. McFadden treats orthopedic trauma, including fractures and complex injuries. “Injuries can change daily life in an instant,” McFadden said. “Our focus is to help patients recover safely and steadily so they can move forward with healing.” His medical training includes a degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center, and a fellowship in orthopedic trauma at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

At AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach, Dr. Clark provides specialized hand and upper extremity care for conditions affecting routine activities and independence. “When pain or injury affects the hand or arm, even simple tasks can become difficult,” Clark said. “Helping patients regain comfort and function can make a meaningful difference in daily life.” She earned her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, completed her residency at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, and had a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Bryan Mueller, president & CEO of AdventHealth Medical Group stated: “As demand for care continues to rise across the region, growing our physician network is about making sure our neighbors can get specialty care without unnecessary delays or travel,” he said. “When physicians are closely connected to hospital teams in the community, patients experience more coordinated care from diagnosis through recovery.”

The physicians are accepting new patients at their respective locations: Drs. O’Keefe and McFadden are available at 305 Memorial Parkway, Suite 301 in Daytona Beach; Dr. Clark is seeing patients at 600 Palmetto Street in New Smyrna Beach.

AdventHealth Medical Group consists of nearly 500 physicians and advanced practice providers across several counties including Flagler, Lake, St. Johns, and Volusia counties with expertise spanning 30 specialties. In 2025 alone they provided over one million patient visits and recruited almost 115 new practitioners across their division.

AdventHealth Orlando is based in Orlando, Florida since its founding in 1908 under current president Terry Shaw; it operates as both a pediatric ward provider and training hospital.
